Etsy Sale , a first painting sold, Tuscany Italy

from a photo I took near Montepulciano, Tuscany Italy
purchased by a California Buyer. Im very excited as this is my first sale on the etsy site.The buyer decided to buy another painting as this reduces postage overall
I really loved the photo as it had such high dark light contrast which I feel is a must is a good composition. I hope to do more like this.

Seeing simply sounds so easy, but our brain constantly wants to concentrate on the detail, with a small canvas it leaves less space for detail so choosing a small format helps to eliminate the inclination to do this.  Give it a try... Ive tried to capture the soft filtered light by using greyed greens and blues for the distant hills, strong warm greens and yellows in the foreground to create perspective

Stage 4Finished Painting.
Ive added some more reflected light on the calmer sections of the ocean close to shore. The sea was quite rought with lots of white water. Adding the white water is the most tricky. If you set up the darker shadows under the breaking waves, it looks more believable

 making it a bit lighter in the foreground and the breaking waves and calm reflections in pale lavender blues

Stage 2 Here Ive added a turpsy wash of transparent red oxide as an underpainting for the sand and allowed it to dry

I  spent the morning delivering 10 painting to my new gallery outlet at Kenilworth Art Space located in the hinterland of the Sunshine Coast.It is a really lovely little town with another gallery as well as the famous Kenilworth Cheese factory and some quaint coffee shops
