Ive added more highlights and used some Red Gold plus White for this.A Lover of colour, Ive pushed the brights. My new camera  is 14 mega pixels but I preferred the colour from my old camera, this one seems to burn out the lights and I have to  do extra processing to try to portray the real thing.

Large Tuscan Village Oil Painting by Daily painter Chris Hobel Noosa Heads Australia

This is the final version, 24x36" a large traditional landscape of a pretty Tuscan village. As you can see from the animation, it has add a few additions and removals. I often prefer the early stages of my painting to the finsihed versions. I need to follow my own advice KISS, keep it simple stupid.  I have painted this scene a few times . I was pretty happy with it in the end

Painting 24x36" Tuscan Village  Oil Painting
Unfinshed photo1 and top photo  what Im up to so far. I ve been working on another tuscan village scene, much larger than any others Ive  done of this type of thingThe large expanse of green is a bit daunting especially the right hand foreground.I like it now but it is a bit unfinshed. The perennial problem.. knowing when to stop. It is not the focal point so I need to be careful not to overdo the detail here. Im not happy with the road leading into the houses on the right. I think it will have to go

My promise to blog more often has been hijacked by family stuff. My head feels like cotton wool ie no logic and my stomach has a migraine, not a good combination. Hopefully the fog will clear soon
My butterfly movie  was fun to do, although I have already forgotten how to do it. Currently Im learning photoshop at U3A Noosa. Im really enjoying it but it means less time for painting and blogging.
The fine art international site is fun as Ive sold a couple of prints on it. The problem is you need really professional photos taken for them to be able to print  from them. I will need a new camera at least 8 megapixels, a tripod , outdoor even light, and the ability to hang your painting flat. Not sure if its worth it for a few dollars profit. I will need to sell a lot of prints.

This week a quick trip to the gold coast Qld Australia airport ( all the cheap overseas flights go from there) to send off my baby for a 2year adventure,
breakfast at Cooloongatta and  some great shots were taken at Pt Danger

Top photo the floating city of the surfers paradise, lower photo Duranbah, a top surf spot
Ikea in Brisbane for some new lamps etc

The main change Ive made is to the shape of the path and the shadows on it. 

I think its perspective is better

I played around with the shape of the foreground vines, not happy with them yet so Im giving this painting a break  for a while as Ive found a photo on the internet Im keen to have a go at.

Tuscan Village Oil Painting by Chris Hobel

This is step 1, Tuscan Village  Oil Painting

I 've just found this photo of Step 1, it was  painted before the one in the earlier post.
I am still a novice at impressionist style and often I find I want to neaten things  or get distracted by details the more time I spend on a painting.
As I write this I have not yet finished the painting but  I have done a little more and added a few changes to the path way.

I think I should get back to the palette knife as it stops the tendency to be so precious with detail
I started on a gessoed board and drew  the  main outlines to divide the tones  with chalk  blue pencil .
Choose a colour that will blend with colours you will use in your painting .I find charcoal makes the colours muddy.

Limiting your palette also keeps you on the straight and narrow,  colours are naturally harmonious and you cant forget the colours you used that way!

Chroma Archival Colours used are Cad Yellow Mid, Ultramarine Blue, Cobalt Blue, Cad Red, Crimson, Veridian, Fast Drying White.with gum turps in the early stage of the painting

After a funtrip away to coastal Coffs Harbour NSW Australia meeting up with a childhood friend,

Ive returned to beautiful winter weather inspired to  paint some smallish 

Tuscan and French village countryside scenes in oil on hardwood boards I found at a local op shop.

The painting measures 10x14 inches and I painted it mostly in an impressionist style but the pot and flower on the wall are more realistic.

I used flat bristle brushes and Archival Oils by Chroma I particularly love the fast drying white and smooth gel medium

Stage 4Finished Painting.

Ive added some more reflected light on the calmer sections of the ocean close to shore. The sea was quite rought with lots of white water. Adding the white water is the most tricky. If you set up the darker shadows under the breaking waves, it looks more believable
